79 Years of Standing Together
Founded on April 30, 1947, the Kentucky Professional Fire Fighters has grown from a handful of dedicated locals to an organization representing 45 local unions and over 2,500 members across the Commonwealth. As a proud affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters, KPFF has spent nearly eight decades fighting for fair wages, safe working conditions, robust pensions, and the dignity that Kentucky's first responders have always deserved.
What KPFF Emeritus Status Means
Emeritus status is a formal honorific bestowed by KPFF membership — a vote of recognition for officers whose contributions shaped the union. It's distinct from simply having served and moved on. Emeritus officers carry the honor for life, recognized for the work that built KPFF into what it is today.
